What We Believe
At Oasis Church, we believe that faith should be accessible, understandable, and life-changing. Our beliefs are rooted in the Bible and centred on the good news of Jesus Christ.
We don't claim to have all the answers, but we're committed to exploring faith together in community. Below you'll find the core beliefs that shape who we are and how we live.
We believe the Bible is God's inspired Word—a trustworthy guide for faith and life. It reveals who God is, who we are, and how we can live in relationship with Him and others.
Through Scripture, we encounter the living God and discover His purposes for our lives. We approach the Bible not as a rulebook, but as a story of love, redemption, and hope that invites us into transformation.
Scripture References:
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness." — 2 Timothy 3:16
"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." — Psalm 119:105
We believe in one God who exists eternally as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This Trinity is not three gods, but one God in perfect unity and love.
God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things. He is holy, loving, just, and merciful. He knows us completely and loves us unconditionally. God is not distant or disinterested—He actively pursues relationship with us.
Scripture References:
"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." — Matthew 28:19
"God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them." — 1 John 4:16
We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and taught with authority about God's Kingdom.
Jesus died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. Through His death and resurrection, He conquered sin and death, making it possible for us to be reconciled to God. He ascended to heaven and will return again.
Scripture References:
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." — John 3:16
"Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" — John 14:6
We believe the Holy Spirit is God's active presence in the world today. The Spirit convicts us of sin, draws us to faith, and empowers us to live as followers of Jesus.
The Holy Spirit lives within every believer, producing spiritual fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The Spirit also gives gifts to believers for building up the church and serving others.
Scripture References:
"But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things." — John 14:26
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." — Galatians 5:22-23
We believe salvation is a gift from God, received through faith in Jesus Christ. We cannot earn our way to God through good works or religious effort—salvation comes by grace alone.
When we put our trust in Jesus, we are forgiven, made new, and adopted into God's family. Salvation is not just about going to heaven when we die; it's about experiencing new life with God starting now and continuing forever.
Scripture References:
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." — Ephesians 2:8-9
"If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." — Romans 10:9
We believe the Church is the body of Christ—a community of believers called to worship God, grow in faith, and serve the world. The Church is not a building; it's people united by their love for Jesus.
We are called to gather regularly for worship, teaching, fellowship, and prayer. We're also called to scatter into our communities, workplaces, and neighbourhoods to be the hands and feet of Jesus, sharing His love through our words and actions.
Scripture References:
"Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." — 1 Corinthians 12:27
"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." — Acts 2:42
We believe in the hope of resurrection and eternal life. Jesus promised that He is preparing a place for those who follow Him, and that one day He will return to make all things new.
Death is not the end for those who trust in Christ. We look forward to the resurrection of the body and life in God's renewed creation—a world free from pain, suffering, and death, where we will dwell with God forever.
Scripture References:
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." — Revelation 21:4
"I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die." — John 11:25
